Matthew has a background in Urban Planning and Design, with a particular interest in alternative modes of transport and their effects on development patterns. He has held professional roles in State, Regional, and Local government agencies throughout Southern California with responsibilities focused around mobility planning and streetscape design.

He is currently undertaking his PhD at Monash University on Placemaking & Streetscape Design: Measuring Perceived Place Quality and Understanding its Implications for Tram Modernisation.
